Roti Canai Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 kg all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 2 tablespoons condensed milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water (estimated - pour gradually while kneading until a smooth dough is formed)

Instructions:

  1. Combine Wet Ingredients:

    • Mix condensed milk, egg, salt, and water until well dissolved.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • Place the flour and cooking oil in a bowl.
    • Pour the wet mixture into the bowl with flour and oil. Knead until it forms a smooth and soft dough.
  3. Divide and Shape:

    • Divide the dough into balls, approximately 75g-80g each.
    • Brush each dough ball with margarine and place them in a container. Add a little cooking oil. Allow the dough to marinate for 6-7 hours or overnight. If you're in a hurry, 4 hours of marination should be sufficient.
  4. Rest and Ferment:

    • After marinating, the dough can be spread out for cooking. If you marinate for a shorter time, it can still be used, but longer marination enhances the flavor.
  5. Cooking:

    • Fry the roti canai until it's cooked and ready to serve.
