Thosai Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup urad dal (black gram)
- 1 cup cooked rice or
- 1 cup rice flour
- 1 tablespoon Mauripan yeast
- Salt
- 3 cups water
Instructions:
Prepare Urad Dal and Rice:
- Wash urad dal and soak it for 5-6 hours. Blend it with cooked rice until smooth.
Add Salt:
- Add a pinch of salt to the blended mixture.
Prepare Batter:
- In a separate bowl, mix the blended mixture with water, rice flour, and Mauripan yeast. Stir well to form a batter.
Ferment the Batter:
- Allow the batter to ferment overnight, covering it with a lid or cloth to help it rise.
Grease the Pan:
- Grease a flat skillet or dosa pan with a little cooking oil.
Cook the Thosai:
- Pour a ladle of the fermented batter onto the pan.
- Spread it out evenly to form a thin layer, allowing the bottom to crisp up. Then, cover it with a lid.
Roll or Fold:
- Once the thosai is cooked, you can either roll or fold it.
Serve:
- Your thosai is now ready to be served.
